The City of Abilene and Rescue the Animals are launching a new program called “Our Shelter 20/20” – but they need your help!

This new Kickstarter aims to make the shelter a better place for the animals. They will be evaluating other shelter programs and finding out what works, so they can bring those operations to Abilene.

Shelter employees say that they hope the program will be completed within the next three years.

“We want to get it so that everybody in town can afford to spay and neuter their animals. But that’s a multi-year project, and it will take a while to get there,” Paul Washburn, with Rescue the Animals, said. “Ultimately, we don’t solve any of the problems at the shelter in the long-run unless there are fewer homeless animals.”
