A project called “War Stories” is meant to document our history.

A group of Angelo State University history professors are looking for veterans to contribute. They are traveling all across West Texas.

Monday, they were at the Abilene Public Library.

The project has been funded for three years. They hope the stories will live on.

“I don’t know…If I didn’t talk about it, who’s going to?” veteran storyteller Billie Joe Shirley said.

They believe it is important to preserve their stories for future generations.

If you are a veteran and want to help with the project, head over to our Facebook page for more information.
