A school shooting that happened in 1999 is still impacting students’ lives today.
Wylie High School students participated in Rachel’s Challenge.
This nationwide program is in honor of a student who lost her life in the 1999 Columbine school shooting.
Wylie students hoped to carry on the kindness and compassion of Rachel Scott.
They signed a banner as a statement to show they'll treat each other with respect.
Justus Jefferson, a 9th grader, said, "At this young you could do something like that, that's pretty cool. A lot of my friends were crying. A friend of mine behind me was crying. I was actually just about to burst out into tears too."
Principal Tommy Vaughn said he’s starting a club called "Friends of Rachel" so students always have an outlet.
