Americans had a little more money to spend last month, as consumer prices fell by the largest amount in more than two years.

The Labor Department says the U.S. consumer price index dropped 0.3 percent in March, following a tiny raise in February.

It was the first monthly decline in more than a year and the biggest drop since January 2015.

Gas prices lead the way, with a more than six percent drop last month. The cost of cellphone plans, new and used cars and clothing were all also lower.
