The summer movie season is off to a strong start thanks to several blockbusters. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Alien: Covenant and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 all topped the box office -- and there are many more highly-anticipated flicks ready to follow their lead!

Tom Cruise headlines the reboot of The Mummy. This time, an ancient princess is awakened from her crypt.

War for the Planet of the Apes is the third installment of that reimagined series. This chapter has Caesar seeking revenge for his fellow apes.

Famed action director Michael Bay helms the fifth Transformers film, dubbed The Last Knight, in which the key to saving humanity’s future is buried in the past.

Female-led action flicks include Gal Gadot reprising her role as Wonder Woman for an origin story, while Charlize Theron plays a spy sent to investigate the murder of fellow agents in Atomic Blonde.

Other action thrillers include another web-slinger sequel, Spider-Man Homecoming; Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds in The Hitman’s Bodyguard; a high-speed getaway flick, Baby Driver; the Christopher Nolan World War II drama Dunkirk; and star Mandy Moore is trapped 47 Meters Down.

A couple of kid-friendly animated movies to watch out for: Despicable Me 3 reunites the voice talents of Steve Carrell and Kristin Wiig, plus there’s the big ensemble cast of The Emoji Movie.

And for those looking for raunchy laughs, Girls Trip features Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Queen Latifah; Rough Night has Scarlett Johannsson, Zoe Kravitz and Kate McKinnon; while Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler try to raise money for their daughter’s college education in The House.
