Brent Williamson officially was hired as the new Zephyr Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Williamson previously held the same position at Blanket ISD.

"Zephyr's got a rich tradition of being good in football, basketball and track. And I'm looking forward to being a part of that and continuing that tradition and hopefully building on that tradition." Williamson said.

Over the past five years that the football program was led by Shannon Williams, the team held a 43-18 record. That also includes a near appearance in the 6-man State Championship game in 2015.

"The expectation has always been high here, even when I was back in school." Williamson said of the pressure associated with the job. "We expect a lot from these kids here. We're going to get out here and work. And hopefully not be a step away from that state game but make it into that state game."

This is a community that Williamson is very familiar to. He graduated from Zephyr back in 1992. Being able to coach at the same place he went to school is special to Williamson.

"It's a Bulldog coming home." Williamson said of his return.
