Abilene early childhood teachers will soon have access to free resources.

In the fall, Texas educators will be able to give students an assessment to see where kindergarten students stand.

Thursday, Abilene teachers learned about how this can help their program.

The Children’s Learning Institute was in town to provide information to teachers. They say Texas will finally have a learning assessment similar to other states.

“Teachers will have a way to assess their instruction for the rest of the school year. They’ll be able to assess not only where the students are coming from, but kind-of where they’re going,” Kimberly Marchand, a communications specialist, said.

Teachers, administrators and coaches attended the information session.
