Students at Lee Elementary School in Abilene celebrated leadership and diversity with a special parade on Thursday.
Teachers organized this day to help students learn more about each other and their backgrounds.
Students waved flags representing the country where they are from. They even presented phrases from their native languages.
One of the organizers told Fox 15 that the parents were heavily involved, making it a community event.
“We have so many kids from different countries and so, we wanted to be able to help them to interact and integrate and to be able – the Americans to be able to interact with them too,” Ngozika Ugaanze said.
And next year, they hope to incorporate more traditional clothing into the event.
