They say some like it hot – and those who do may be in for some serious health benefits!
A multi-year study done in China shows people who eat spicy foods six or seven days a week had a 14 percent less chance of death versus those who spiced it up less than once a week.
The key is the active ingredient that gives them their heat: capsaicin.
Other benefits include a decrease in appetite and obesity, as well as a lower likelihood of cancer.
The study also shows the most powerful form of spice is fresh chili pepper, compared to dried peppers, chili sauce and chili oil.
