Following the events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, Preston Wiginton organized a white nationalist rally at Texas A&M University. The rally was scheduled for Sept. 11, 2017 but the school deemed it unsafe for students.
Wiginton said he's disappointed in the school and said, “I don’t think anybody would be at risk from my people. The right brings the message, the left always brings violence."
He said he's done over 25 rallies and there's never been violence at the events.
When Wiginton received the news about the canceled rally at TAMU, he said a reporter at the state capital told him that the state legislature was putting pressure on TAMU to cancel the event.
When reacting to the news, he said he was "disappointed."
“I thought A&M had more integrity than that. What was really sad to me was that they were cowering to the Antifa people to the left, who were threatening the violence, instead of standing up for free speech.”
He added, “I think it’s just a message that they fear because it’s going to destroy their utopian bubble of diversity and multiculturalism which doesn’t work in the real world.”
Even though the rally didn't happen on Sept. 11, 2017, Wiginton said he plans on reapplying for another rally at the university.
