The Center for Contemporary Arts and the Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District are partnering up for a mock outbreak of zombies in Abilene. They will pretend that the city has been hit by a weaponized bacteria that converts humans into zombies, and the medical preparedness teams are the only ones with the antidote.

Even though this may seem like fun and games, the goal of this event is very serious. This exercise will help better the communities' emergency preparedness teams, while the people in the community get to have fun in participating in the readiness drill.

They will use a transparent product called GloGerm to "contaminate" individual zombies who will casually infect unsuspecting ArtWalkers. A blacklight tent will be set up in the street in front of The Center for Contemporary Arts, so ArtWalkers will go into the tent to see if they are infected.

If they are infected, they will have to immediately go to the point of distribution in order to receive the antidote.

The public is invited to participate. This event will take place in downtown Abilene in the Historic Cultural District (Cypress St. from 1st to N. 4th and N. 2nd from Pine to Cedar). This event will be on Oct. 12 from 5 to 10 p.m.
