Guardians gets the top spot, Fox axes some favorites and Game goes for five in the Hollywood Nation.

George R. R. Martin dropped some major details about his upcoming Game of Thrones spinoffs on Sunday. The famed fantasy author announced he has added a fifth story to the originally planned four and defined the plot scripts as prequels, rather than sequels.

Looks like Jason Bateman is on-board for more Arrested Development. The funnyman took to Twitter on Friday to report he has officially signed onto the quirky comedy’s fifth season.

Monday brought bad news for some Fox fan favorites. Ryan Murphy’s anthology Scream Queens has been canceled after only two seasons. The network put future episodes of reboots Prison Break and 24: Legacy on pause and execs confirmed Zooey Deschanel’s comedy New Girl will end after its seventh season.

Pop princess Katy Perry announced the June 9 release of her fourth album, Witness, on Monday morning and revealed she is hitting the road on an extensive arena tour this fall.

And Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 held on to the top spot at the box office over the weekend, taking number one for the second straight week with $63 million. The raunchy mother-daughter comedy Snatched scored second place with $17.5 million, while King Arthur: Legend of the Sword made a disappointing debut in third with nearly $15 million.
