Abilene Police Department deploys law enforcement to Katy, Texas

ABILENE, TX - Abilene's Police Department will be assisting law enforcement efforts in response to Tropical Storm Harvey that has flooded and destroyed some areas in south Texas. 

The Department of Public Safety is requesting assistance from Texas Law Enforcement agencies. APD will send eight officers to Katy, TX, Aug. 28. 

The officers will be assisting area law enforcement agencies with recuses and shelter security, or as directed. 

The eight officers will work a 12-hour shift workweek. Once they complete their workweek, they will rotate home where another eight officers will replace them. These efforts are very fluid and are subject to change frequently.
