Copper from railroad stolen

ABILENE - Last night approximately $2,250 worth of copper was stolen from a railroad track on the south side of town.

A representative from the railroad company reported that bonding straps and wire where cut off, removed and stolen off of approximately 600 ft. of railroad.

Copper is considered a precious metal and can be sold for a lot of money, which make it a popular item to steal.

Police are still investigating the incident.
