ABILENE, TX - The Abilene Chief of Police addressed a string of crimes at a press conference Friday.
Stan Standridge says around 3am Friday morning they responded to a shooting on the 500 Block of North Judge Ely Boulevard.
He said there was a fight and everyone fled the scene.
However, in a fleeing SUV they found two victims: a 22-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 21-year-old woman was shot in the head.
Both were taken to Hendrick Medical Center and were in the ICU unit as of Friday morning.
“Early information indicates that there was a fight at 'Guitars and Cadillac’s' last night. In which a female shooting victim slapped a male,” Standridge said.
He said all parties left and went to 'Jaguars’ in Tye, where the fight continued.
Later on the shooting was reported.
Friday morning, Standridge said the shooter is a man who’s armed and dangerous.
He provided an update on a shooting that happened December 18th.
Standridge said a woman who was shot is not cooperating with police and has been released from the hospital.
He gave another update on an investigation.
Standridge said Howard Collier (70) was arrested for the 'continuous trafficking of persons.'
This came after Standridge asked the public to come forward with info on the man being involved in child sex crimes.
“I appealed to our citizens to come forward if they are aware of additional victims. Some have, and detectives have identified other victims,” Strandridge said.
Police are aware of three more victims.
His bond was set at $250k, and he bonded out the day of his arrest on December 19th.
