Amber Craker found 'guilty' of capital murder

An Abilene woman was found guilty for murdering her newborn baby.

ABILENE, TX - Thursday, a jury found 20-year-old Amber Craker guilty for capital murder and tampering with evidence.

This comes after her newborn baby was found dead on January 18, 2016.

She was sentenced to life without parole in prison.

She was also sentenced to 19 years in prison, which will run concurrent with the other charge.

The tampering of evidence charge is a result of the corpse being hidden in a trash can.

During day four of the capital murder trial the defense and prosecution gave closing arguments

and wrapped up around 10:30am.

The jury wrapped up their deliberation just after 3pm.

After the punishment phase Craker said she's sorry for everything she's done.

Her boyfriend at the time of the murder, Damian Cate (24), is to have a trial for

his alleged role in the murder in January of 2018.
