Arrests Made in Merkel in Connection to Vehicle Burglaries

Merkel Police made two arrests in connection to the numerous reports of burglary of a vehicle and one stolen vehicle.

MERKEL, TX - On Wednesday, June 21, the Merkel Police Department made two arrests in connection to the numerous reports of burglary of a vehicle and one stolen vehicle.

Gary Kennedy Jr. was taken into custody, with the assistance of the Abilene Police Department's Street Crime Division and was charged with third-degree felony theft of a firearm, 15 counts of Class A misdemeanor burglary of a vehicle, third-degree felony theft of property $2,500-$30,000 and third-degree felony credit debit card abuse.

Anson Joe Booker was already in custody at the Taylor County Jail for unrelated parole violation charges. Booker is now charged with 15 counts of Class A misdemeanor burglary of a vehicle and third-degree felony theft of property $2,500-$30,000.

The Merkel Police Department was able to recover numerous stolen items at several residences in Abilene.
