City Council votes to not censor Steve Savage's social media

After City Councilman Steven Savage wrote inappropriate comments on Facebook, the council decided to not censor him.

ABILENE, TX - During an executive session on Tuesday, Sept. 26, Abilene City Council voted on a formal disapproval motion for councilman Steve Savage.

This motion came after Savage wrote inappropriate comments on Nanci Liles's, executive director of Abilene Convention and Visitor's Bureau (ACVB), Facebook status.

Mayor Anthony Williams called for the council to vote on a censure of Savage but the censure did not pass with only one councilman voting yes.

In a statement, the City said the council regulates their social media accounts and if there is an issue like the comments from Savage they will handle it amongst the council members.
