ABILENE, TX - There is less alcohol and absolutely no mistletoe this year at office Christmas parties. Companies are cutting back on Holiday cheer with all the sexual harassment stories looming in the headlines.
Despite most office Holiday parties not happening at work, people don't realize that company rules and policies still apply. To avoid any misunderstandings Kevin Troutman, an employment attorney recommends everyone use common sense.
Troutman says: "The determinative factor is usually going to come down to how is it viewed by the person who hears the comment not how it was intended by the person who makes the comment."
Here are a few tips to remember when you’re at rocking a little too hard around the Christmas tree.
1. Don't try to be the life of the party especially if you are a supervisor
2.Keep your hands to yourself
3.Don't compliment the opposite sex on dress and appearance
4.Drink in moderation
