Plane Bound for Abilene Crashes in New Mexico

The pilot and the passenger were both killed in the crash in New Mexico.

RUIDOSO, NM - On Tuesday, June 13 at around 10:16 p.m., New Mexico State Police officers responded to the Sierra Blanca Airport outside Ruidoso in reference to a plane crash.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air E-90 plane had crashed shortly after take-off. The plane burned on impact.

The pilot, 39-year-old Justin King and his son, 13-year-old Hayden King, both of Ruidoso were en route to Abilene. Both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators were headed to the accident site, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation.

The FAA will release the tail number after investigators confirm it at the site.
