Cars 3 is the movie to beat at the box office this weekend. The first two movies in the franchise have made more than $1 billion combined.
This new animated installment continues the journey of racing legend Lightning McQueen, as he’s challenged by a new generation of faster cars.
“I think that what was kind-of poignant was the way that in the first one, Paul Newman’s character helping me and then in this one, the chance to sort-of be a mentor to Cruz Ramirez was a, you know, it was a really kind-of a nice story,” Owen Wilson said.
“From somebody who has been a fan from the beginning, it’s just so fun to be a part of this franchise,” Kerry Washington said.
“I love the Cars movies, so when they called and said, ‘Do you want to be in the Cars movie?’ I said, ‘Absolutely,’” Armie Hammer said.
The cast members talked about their own driving skills.
“I once got a car up to 187 miles an hour,” Hammer said.
“I drive like an 80-year-old woman. Like, hands at 10 and two, super close to the wheel, really straight back, like super defensive driving,” Washington said.
“I do take it slow. Though I was a little late today driving to Disneyland, so I did have to hit the gas, lead-foot,” Wilson said.
They have some interesting picks for fantasy cars.
“An Aston Martin and totally different a Honda Civic,” Cristela Alonzo said.
“I would go with a pick-up truck. My pick-up truck that I have,” Hammer said.
“I think my whole life, my dream was based off Back to the Future,” Washington said. “I thought a DeLorean would be super fun to have.”
