ABILENE, TX - There's a new way to ride in style in Abilene!
Two brand new CityLink buses have rolled in and are now ready for operation.
The buses are five feet longer than the previous buses used and can carry up to 35 passengers each, including space for three wheelchair passengers.
The buses were purchased for approximately $424,000 each with funding from TXDOT and City of Abilene. The buses also carry CityLink’s new updated look and get about 25 percent better fuel efficiency.
But Director of Transportation Services Don Green tells us there's now an even bigger need for drivers for these buses.
“We still have a shortage of drivers – a significant shortage of drivers. But hopefully, we’re seeing a little bit of a gain in applicants and it looks like we’re in the process of getting better with the driver situation,” Green said.
We'll have more on what these buses mean for the city tonight at 10!
