ABILENE, TX —
A scary night for medical staff at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene after police say a 23-year-old man walked up to the triage window and then shot and killed himself.
In a Facebook post overnight, Abilene Police say around 8:55 p.m., the man told the nurse his blood type, said he was an organ donor, then shot himself.
Police say he was treated immediately for his injuries, but died around 9:17 p.m., Wed.
No threats were made to the staff on scene. Shortly after, Hendrick Medical Center diverted patients to the south Hendrick E-R as personnel and police investigate. We are told that, that location is now re-opened.
