ABILENE, Texas — A 20-year-old Abilene man was arrested Wednesday and charged with distribution of child pornography.

According to a release from the Abilene Police Department, on Wednesday, APD's Cyber Crimes unit, along with Abilene Christian University Police executed a search and arrest warrant at a North Abilene residence. Jacob Hutchison was taken into custody from his dorm room, located in the 1400 block of Cedar Crest Drive.

Detectives with the Cyber Crimes Unit received information that led them to believe a subject in Abilene was distributing child pornography. Detectives worked closely with the ACUPD to identify the subject and to develop a safe plan to apprehend him.

The investigation revealed that Hutchison was using popular social media apps used by teens to distribute the graphic pictures. Hutchison was also found to be in possession of numerous videos containing child pornography.

The release said Hutchison targeted the social media apps: KiK, TikToc, SnapChat, and Dropbox, because of their popularity with teens.

Hutchison was arrested for second degree felony distribution of child pornography and third degree felony possession of child pornography.
