AISD's 2018 Adult Education graduation is the largest class in recent years

ABILENE, TX — Graduations continue in the Big country and there was a special one at Abilene High School, Thursday evening.

The West Texas Central Adult Education Class of 2018 had their commencement in the school’s auditorium.

“This graduating class is the largest we’ve had in several years,” said Mignon Lawson, program director. “There are 71 that have elected to walk tonight.”

This year 46 graduates are from Abilene, the rest reside in: Ballinger, Cisco, DeLeon, Rotan, Snyder, Coleman, Sweetwater, Albany, Breckenridge and Brownwood.

“We have two tonight who have completed their ‘Certified Nursing Assistant’ degree and their GED,” said Lawson. “We are going to recognize them. Because we just started that program in February.”

Also, this year, the program served more than 1,200 students in its 19-county area.
