APD: Four arrested, accused of targeting children online

Four arrested in Abilene for targeting children online.

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit announced the arrests of four individuals for their part in targeting children using online applications and the internet.

According to the APD, four separate search warrants were executed over a 24-hour period.

Charles Jonathan Baumer, 42, was arrested in the 700 block of Palm Street June 12, during the execution of an arrest warrant for online solicitation of a minor. This investigation continues and more charges are possible.

Clarence Penns, 35, was arrested in the 700 block of Palm Street June 14, during the execution of a search and arrest warrant for online solicitation of a minor. Additionally, Samantha Crabtree, 27, was arrested for interference with public duties after she attempted to prevent detectives from entering the home during the execution of the warrants.

The investigation into Penns continues and more charges are possible.

Robert Morris, 45, was arrested in the 200 block of North Mockingbird June 13, at his place of business, The Cash Register Guy, during the execution of a search warrant for distribution of child pornography. This investigation continues and more charges are possible.

Anthony Sanders, 50, was arrested in the 1000 block of Justice Way June 13, during the execution of a search and arrest warrant for online solicitation of a minor and sexual performance by a child.

Electronic evidence was seized during each investigation and will be forensically processed by detectives. In the release, the Abilene Police Department thanked the Department of Public Safety for their continued support during the investigation of these crimes.
