A train derailed the night of Aug. 9 and created a dangerous situation for one driver in Runnels County.
Now, part of the train can be seen turned over along the track. Traffic was diverted to one lane of the highway. Luckily, late at night, there wasn't a lot of traffic. However, an oncoming vehicle with two passengers came along the highway and did collide with the debris from the derailment.
Officials at Texas Pacifico, who manages the track said, they're working to investigate this derailment.
"This has been functioning. We'll have to see what the cause was. It was at a joint or at some location within the rail," the Pacifico official said.
The Runnels sheriff said the driver of the vehicle who hit the debris did suffer injuries and was taken to Shannon hospital. The passenger as well as the driver of the train are both okay.
Texas Pacifico said it will take about 24 hours to repair the damaged track.
