B-1B remains under investigation.

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – A B-1B Lancer assigned to Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, that made an emergency landing at Midland International Air & Space Port in Midland May 1 remains in Midland and is still under investigation by a safety investigation board.

The specific findings and recommendations of the SIB are protected by the military safety privilege and are not subject to release. The SIB’s purpose is to prevent future mishaps or losses and is comprised of experts who investigate the incident and recommend corrective actions if deemed applicable.

On May 1, the B-1B Lancer crew experienced an in-flight emergency, however, the crew was able to land with all four crew members onboard unharmed. The port’s emergency responders responded to the aircraft upon landing. There were no munitions on the aircraft.
