ABILENE, Texas — A 23-year-old Abilene woman is in critical condition after her motorcycle struck a guardrail and she fell from an overpass Wednesday afternoon.
According to a release from the Abilene Police Department's Traffic Division, at approximately 1:49 p.m. Wednesday, dispatch received multiple calls from the intersection of South 1st Street and Arnold Boulevard.
Initial reports indicated a female had possibly fallen from the bridge, but information later revealed that a motorcycle collision had occurred.
Stephanie Sims-Fisk was operating a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Arnold Street when she lost control of the motorcycle and struck the concrete guardrail. As a result of the collision, Sims-Fisk fell and hit the surface of South 1st below, sustaining serious injuries. Police say she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Sims-Fisk was transported to Hendrick Medical Center and was listed in critical condition at the time of the release. Members of the Traffic Division are continuing the investigation.
