A new strip mall in underway in south Abilene. Signs run along the construction site explaining the stores and restaurants that will be going in.
Some of these stores include: Cheddars Scratch Kitchen, Burlington Coat Factory, Academy and a Petco.
The manager at Academy confirmed that the current store located on John Knox is relocating the new shopping center in late March of 2018.
Facebook viewers weighed in on what they would like to see fill the building once it's empty. Popular suggestions included: Costco, Cabelas, Bass Pro Shop, DSW, Aldi, Trader Joe's, Dave and Busters, Joe's Crab Shack, Home Goods, HEB and more.
