The Abilene Police Department arrested Keilyn Batts, 28, for possessing a prohibited weapon.

In December 2016, a Motel 6 employee reported finding a suspicious device at work, which later bomb technicians determined was an improvised explosive device, IED.

The employee found the IED in a vacant hotel room at Motel 6 off Interstate 20.

After a lengthy investigation, Batts was identified as the suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest and on Oct. 4 Batts was detained.

He's currently being held in Taylor County Jail with a $100,000 bond. He was charged with a third degree felony possession of a prohibited weapon.
