EASTLAND, Texas — A nine-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy were killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday near Eastland.
According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2002 Ford Expedition, driven by Erica Olvera, 57, of Las Vegas, Nev., was traveling on Interstate 20, seven miles west of Eastland, when it veered into the center median, striking the safety cable.
The children, Rey David Lopez, 10, and Victoria Lopez, 10, were ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to the DPS report. They were transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
A third passenger, Cassandra Lopez, 13, was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.
Olvera was transported to Eastland Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash remains under DPS investigation.
