Violent crime is something Abilene Mayor Anthony Williams said he is unfortunately all too familiar with. He said his father was shot and killed in Abilene many years ago so this cause is close to his heart.

Williams said to fight violent crime in the city there has to be a united front from all people in the community.

He said that Abilene isn't a bad place to live, it's a safe place but no city is immune to what is going on in the rest of the country.

There are several meetings scheduled where law enforcement agencies, the city and Abilene residents can come and speak on ways to keep the city violence free.

Williams said he is confident in the City of Abilene and he knows that violent crimes will eventually be stopped if everyone works together.
