Retired Col. Michael Bob Starr has been selected to be the executive director of Global Samaritan Resources by the organization's board directors, after serving as interim executive director since June 12, 2017, succeeding Danny Sims who resigned late May.
Starr recently served as chair of the Global Samaritan Food and Hope event/telethon that raised money and decorated boxes of food to be sent to refugee camps in Kurdistan, Northern Iraq. He also served as a panel member on a recent forum telecast concerning the worldwide refugee crisis.
Star said in a statement:
"I have long supported Global Samaritan Resources. But being immersed in its mission over the last few weeks has profoundly deepened my passion and appreciation for providing humanitarian aid logistics services. I'm very grateful for this opportunity to serve with the incredible staff of Global Samaritan to show God's love not only to our community, but also to people facing hardship, crisis and disaster around the world."
Tim Surles, board chair, said, "As we hoped, Michael Bob's leadership has been a perfect fit for Global Samaritan Resources. He has already had a lasting impact on our organization and we are excited about where he will lead us in the future."
