Runnels Co. Sheriff's Office conducts internal investigation

A former Runnels County Corrections Officer is one of three arrested in Ballinger on criminal charges. Below is the press release from the Runnels County Sheriff's Office.

BALLINGER, TX — PRESS RELEASE: “In April 2018 the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office began an internal investigation involving suspected contraband making its way into the Runnels County Jail. On May 8th 2018 three individuals were arrested on warrants issued out of Runnels County Justice of the Peace Court Precinct 1.

The charges on the three individuals are as follows:

(1). Engaging in organized criminal activity a 2nd Degree Felony - bond for each individual was set at $50.000.00.

(2). Prohibited substances and items in a correctional facility a 3rd Degree Felony - bond for each individual was set at $40.000.00.

Below are the individuals arrested:

(1). Trevor Anthony Marcilliotte 29 years of age. Marcilliotte was a Runnels County Jailer from Oct. 15, 2014 until April 25, 2018 when he quit without notice.

(2). Bradley Wayne Horton 29 years of age. Horton is a current inmate at the Runnels County Jail who was being held on a parole warrant for Burglary of a Habitation.

(3). Rebecca Michelle Mcnelly 42 years of age. Mcnelly is the fiancé of Horton.

The investigation is ongoing and other’s may be charged at a later date.

An incident of this nature is an embarrassment, not only to myself, as the Runnels County Sheriff, but all of the good, hardworking, dedicated Jailers, Dispatcher’s and Deputies with the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office. We understand that an incident of this nature tarnishes the image of all in law enforcement. I want to ensure each citizen of Runnels County that this behavior will not be tolerated by the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office and all involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
