ABILENE, Texas – The Abilene Zoo closed late this morning after a contracted work crew ruptured a 6” water line. Crews were digging a trench for the new Flamingo Exhibit when they ruptured the line. This caused a major disruption of water to parts of the Zoo. Zoo Director, Bill Gersonde closed the Zoo for the safety of patrons. The animals are not in danger and staff has a good supply of water for all animals. The facility will remain closed until water service is restored and threat to public safety is averted. Staff apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause for patrons.
