(ORIGINAL STORY) The Wylie Baptist Church Child Development Center was closed, effective immediately, after receiving word from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Friday morning, that its license has been revoked.
According to a statement from HHSC, the agency delivered a letter to Wylie Baptist CDC stating the facility must discontinue operating immediately because HHSC has determined that the operation poses an immediate danger to the health and safety of children there.
State records indicate that from March 9, 2016, to Nov. 6, 2018, 32 violations have been given by HHSC citing items such as supervision of children; situation placing children at risk; and prohibited punishments - hitting with hand or instrument.
There were 70 children at the daycare at the time of closure, the statement from HHSC said. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is currently investigating the operation as well.
"The decision to take this action was based on the facility’s inability to demonstrate or maintain compliance with required state standards for child-care facilities that are in place to protect the health and safety of children in care," the release stated.
On Friday afternoon, a parent whose child attended the daycare told FOX West Texas she filed a police report citing assault of her child against the center. The incident occurred last week. The parent immediately removed her child from the center's care.
This is a developing story. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
