ABILENE, Texas — Two people were injured Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision on Buffalo Gap Road.

According to Lt. Joe Tower from the Abilene Police Department, an SUV collided with a Wylie school bus head-on.

The SUV was headed southbound and the bus was headed northbound, when the SUV crossed over into oncoming traffic, striking the bus.

Once the bus was hit, Tower said, it flipped onto its side and caught fire.

The school bus was occupied by the driver and one student. The driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to police. The student was reportedly not injured.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.
